(November 30, 2009 - Sarasota, FL): Marie Selby Botanical Gardens has received a $23,550 BOOST (Building Organizations Operational Strength Today) grant from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. The Gardens was one of 30 organizations to be funded in a highly competitive field of applicants.
This grant will give Selby Gardens an advantage in its ability to bring in new clients for private events,” according to CEO Thomas Buchter. “Many people choose our beautiful bayfront location to celebrate important occasions in their lives or for business meetings. Thanks to the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, we will now be able to provide our guests with new amenities and services.”
The BOOST program is the largest single distribution of funds in the Community Foundation of Sarasota County’s history. This program helps local nonprofits build their capacity, increase efficiencies, and support core activities.
Marie Selby Botanical Gardens is a respected center for research and education as well as a famous orchid showplace. Selby Gardens is located at 811 South Palm Avenue in Sarasota. It is open to the public daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the exception of Christmas day.
