(Sarasota, FL, March 6, 2009): For 34 years Marie Selby Botanical Gardens has hosted the popular annual Plant and Garden Festival. Sarasota’s original plant fair is set this year for Saturday and Sunday, March 21 and 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 900 South Palm Avenue in Sarasota, Florida. Special reduced admission to the Gardens for these two days only! Members – free admission.
This unique plant show offers the gardening aficionado thousands of unusual tropical plants from numerous exciting vendors from around the State, as well as Selby Gardens’ own exquisite plant specimens for purchase. Types of specialty plants offered include species orchids, bromeliads, ferns, palms, cycads, flowering trees, Florida native plants, herbs and tropical fruit plants, succulents, water lilies, and more! Take advantage of free horticulture demonstrations and receive expert gardening advice from numerous plant societies in attendance. The Plant and Garden Festival also offers gardening related items for sale such as garden art, garden structures, landscape lighting, nature greeting cards, woodturning, and even worm tea!
Enjoy the tropical beauty of Selby Gardens during the Plant and Garden Festival as well as free tours of the Gardens, delightful music, and food vendors for your dining pleasure. Explore great finds in The Garden Shop and Banyan Treasures. Local Coffee + Tea will offer lunch items in the historic Selby house and the Mansion Tea Room will offer tea tastings.
Marie Selby Botanical Gardens is a respected center for research and education as well as a famous orchid showplace.
