Marie Selby Botanical Gardens is hosting the WCA Members Juried Fall Exhibition from Oct. 4 through December 5, 2010, in Selby’s Museum of Botany and the Arts. This exhibit is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily and will showcase a wide variety of interpretations of nature. The media will be varied and diverse, selected by a professional juror. An opening reception is scheduled for October 7, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Women Contemporary Artists (WCA) is a group of more than one hundred artists committed to the goal of encouraging each other and promoting each others’ work. Women Contemporary Artists members include painters, sculptors, print makers, collage artists, fabric artists and more. Their mission is to provide visibility, encouragement, and inspiration to women artists.
WCA originated in 1984 from the vision of twenty charter members, committed to fostering recognition of women’s accomplishments and contributions to the visual fine arts. WCA’s activities include juried member exhibitions, programs, critique, and an annual artists retreat. WCA presents annual Scholarship Awards to students who choose to continue their fine arts education.
