Selby Gardens is proud to partner with Artist Olivia Marie Braida-Chiusano, founder of the Academy of Botanical Art. The Selby Gardens Botanical Art and Illustration Program provides flexible and/or structured study. An array of courses can be enjoyed singly, just for fun, or pursuant to a Certificate.
As a respected center for research and education, Selby’s campus provides exceptional resources; including access to research specimens and one of the finest botanical libraries in the SE United States.
The Academy’s easy, step-by-step teaching programs and flexible enrollment permits students of all levels to participate in any or all of the workshops. Begin by receiving a strong foundation in realistic drawing based on observation before exploring related subjects. Continue on to complete the program’s requirements to earn the Selby Gardens Certificate of Botanical Art & Illustration. All participants work at their individual pace; ideal for seasonal or traveling students.
The program curricula are based on Ms. Braida’s books, “Ten Steps – A Course in Botanical Art & Illustration, Volumes 1 – 12”. Students who wish to pursue a certificate in Botanical Art & Illustration are welcome to meet with an Academy advisor to discuss and set up their individualized plan.
