SUMMARY:Garden Music Series
DESCRIPTION:Join us on select afternoons for an eclectic variety of local and international music at the Historic Spanish Point campus on Little Sarasota Bay. Food and Beverages available for purchase. Advanced registration is required with guaranteed seating. Free for members and included in general admission for non-members.\nFebruary 27, 2022\nFeaturing Sarasota Concert Band ( https://www.sarasotaconcertband.org/ )\nThe Sarasota Concert Band is Sarasota’s second oldest performing ensemble.  Although the group is officially 66 years old, the roots of the band date back to the l920’s when John Ringling brought his circus bands to Sarasota.  Currently the SCB is a 30 member professional symphonic band made up of woodwinds, brass and percussion.  The band plays a “Pops” style program with a variety of musical styles.  This concert will feature some classical music such as Vaughan Williams English Folk Song Suite and a trumpet solo by one of the top players in the state.  Jazz is also on the program with a jazz medley and two vocal solos.  Mary Beth McLeod has thrilled audiences with her jazz vocal styles.  She will be singing Gershwin’s “Summertime” and “At Last” by Etta James.  The Band will also play music from the recent movie hit West Side Story.  To take a step into the Rock world, the Band will play a rousing medley from the popular band Chicago.  Also thrown in, is a March, some Spanish Music to honor the beautiful Historic Spanish Point and more.  Everyone will find something they already like and maybe something new to enjoy;  This is an upbeat, fun and top shelf concert for the entire family in a beautiful outdoor setting on the water.\n
