Selby Gardens presents the Fifth Annual Gospel Jubilee Showcase, featuring Westcoast Black Theater Group and starring Shantel Norman! Join us under the banyan trees on our beautiful Great Lawn.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase from the Selby House Café, The Barnyard Food Truck, and Sylvia’s Heavenly Cheesecakes!
A limited number of chairs will be available for people who pre-registered on a first come, first serve basis. Additional guests who are not pre-registered are welcome to attend and bring their own chairs; access to the performance is included with admission and free to members.
This event is rain or shine. In the event of hazardous weather, Selby Gardens may cancel.

Shantel Norman
Shantel Norman is a social media influencer, blogger, musician, performer, marketer etc that is passionate about travel, fashion, style and female empowerment.
As a music professional from Lexington, North Carolina but based in Sarasota, Florida, Shantel Norman is always looking for opportunities to develop her technical skills and collaborate with creative professionals.
Shantel has competed in many talent shows such as Triad Idol for the triad area of North Carolina winning a spot as one of the finalist, the Omega Psi Phi talent show winning 2nd place, and recently this Summer 2011 was the ABC network reality show Karaoke Battle USA, in which was hosted by Joey Fatone (N-Sync) and the panel of judges Carnie Wilson (WilsonPhillips), Joe Levy (Editor-of-Chief Rolling Stones and Maxim magazine), and Brian “The Cowboy”Scott (Former Karaoke World Champion, and Country Songwriter). Shantel was the 2nd place finalist as one of the best singers in the USA. Shantel has also sung at the Legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem NY and came in 2nd place singing Tina Turners “Whats Love Got To Do With It.”

Westcoast Black Theater Troupe
Westcoast Black Theater Troupe has grown to become unique in today’s theatre world. They provide a professional platform for gifted minority artists—rising or experienced—to showcase their talents as actors, dancers, singers, musicians, choreographers, directors, and playwrights.
Troupe members consist of many accomplished artists who have made a significant commitment to WBTT and consider our theatre their home. They also include a number of young aspiring performers who, through their mentorship program, have the opportunity to develop their skills alongside the professionals.

Brenda Watty
Brenda Joyce Watty was born in Baltimore, Maryland and began singing in Gospel Choir at a young age. She moved to NYC to study voice and join other musicians in the music business. Brenda studied under the direction of June Monterio, a notionally recognized vocal coach.
After her studies she began to sing with the girls group The Toys which had the hit song “A Lovers Concerto.” Brenda, now discovered, began performing with The Marvelettes which had the hit song “Please Mr. Postman.” Her career started to blossom and she went on tour with additional groups including; The Temptation, The Four Tops., The Crystals, Bo Didley, Ricky Nelson of the Ozzie and Harriett show, Desmond Wilson of the Sandford and Son show, and many more.
Ms. Watty, now is in Sarasota, Florida traveling and performing in her one Women Show “It’s My Time,” as well as, singing with various local groups in the Jazz, Pop, Dance and R & B genre.

Javaris Gooding-Butts
Born and raised in Tampa Florida, Javaris G.B. is a talented Saxophonist. He started by playing gospel music in church. He plays genres from Gospel, Jazz, R&B, Neo-Soul and Funk. He has a single out called “Saturday & Sunday” which tells a story of being in the world but not of the world.
