Acclaimed cellist, member of ETHEL, and Hermitage Fellow, Dorothy Lawson will share her music as part of this special Performance At The Point, a part of the Hermitage Sunsets @ Selby Gardens series.

Dorothy Lawson is a founding member, Artistic Director, and cellist of ETHEL – one of America’s most adventurous string quartets. Lawson has performed with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the White Oak Dance Project, Philharmonia Virtuosi, the American Symphony Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and numerous new music ensembles. Canadian-born, she completed degrees at the University of Toronto, the Vienna Academy and earned MM and DMA degrees from The Julliard School.

As a member of the ETHEL quartet, Dorothy has performed on 40+ albums, premiered 225 new works, and performed in 14 countries, 45 states, and 250 cities.  She has been in residence at the Hermitage Artist Retreat with ETHEL and is a proud Hermitage Fellow in the field of music composition.

Join Strings Con Brio and Conductor Kenneth Bowermeister for “A Little Night Music.”  Featured soloists will be the dazzling duo guitarists Joseph Shields and Dr. Zachary Johnson performing the effervescent Concerto for Two Guitars and Orchestra by Antonio Vivaldi. Also on the program will be “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik,” the original A Little Night Music, by Mozart. The concert will include the stunning “Intermezzo” from Cavalleria Rusticana, Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s haunting “Music of the Night” from Phantom of the Opera, and selections from the great Walt Disney musical “Beauty and the Beast”. Come and enjoy the music and celebrate this nocturnal serenade with the award-winning community-based orchestra, Strings Con Brio.
