Beach Walks & Bird Talks – Beachcombing & Birding Workshop 

Expand your exploration of Sarasota’s famous beaches! Join a Parks & Rec. Dept. expert naturalist on a guided walking tour of Sarasota’s bayfront. Learn about the local flora, fauna, geology, and geography, as well as seasonal migrations, blooms, and natural history. A must for avid birders of all ages!

This workshop is off-site, and does not take place at Selby Gardens’ campus. Upon arrival, please meet at the South Lido Key Beach Park Bath House (2201 Benjamin Franklin Dr., Sarasota, FL 34236) around 7:20 a.m. to be checked-in for your 7:30 a.m. start time. There is ample free parking, a water fountain, and a restroom. Your instructor will be standing next to the bath house, between the restrooms and the picnic area. From there, the instructor will take you on your nature walk.

Binoculars, comfortable water shoes, hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen are recommended. This class will take place in drizzle or shine. Be prepared to wear appropriate rain gear. This class will only be canceled if there is extreme weather (lightning, tropical storms, etc.).
