Selby Gardens’ Light Display Returns Dec. 21

November 14, 2017

The popular family event, Lights in Bloom, runs for eight nights at the end of December

SARASOTA, FLA. – November 14, 2017: The popular holiday light display at Selby Gardens returns December 21 and will run for eight nights, showcasing more than one million lights set in tropical holiday scenes throughout the 15-acre garden.

Now in its 14th year, Lights in Bloom, is a tradition for many residents and visitors to celebrate the holiday season in Sarasota. Each night from Dec. 21 – 23 and 26 – 30 the Gardens are decorated in lighted displays that showcase iconic scenes at Selby Gardens. Returning this year include longtime favorites like the Radiant Rainforest butterflies, the Wishing Tree and Santa’s North Pole workshop, as well as new favorites like the flock of lighted flamingoes on the bayfront created by the display team at Affairs in the Air.

Planning and design for the annual event began in the springtime and it will take several weeks to install the lights at Selby Gardens. More than 700 volunteer positions help guide the nearly 15,000 people who visit the Gardens during the display.

The nightly events also include live music by Soul-R-Coaster, children’s arts and crafts activities and games. Santa Claus visits nightly through Dec. 23 until he has to return to the North Pole. Festive holiday treats including hot cocoa, as well as beer and wine are available for purchase.

Admission for Lights in Bloom is $20 for Selby Gardens Members or $25 for guests. Children ages 4-17 are $7.50 and under age four are free. Also offered is a “Selby Experience” pass for one night only on December 23. The “experience” tickets are $100 Adults, $30 Children, and include reserved parking, early admission, open bar, cocktail buffet and holiday desserts.
