Selby Gardens’ Receives Endorsement for Master Plan from Marie Selby’s closest living

August 27, 2019

SARASOTA, Fla.—August 27, 2019–Eight of Marie Selby’s closest living relatives have released a letter of endorsement for and Marie Selby Botanical Gardens’ proposed Master Plan.

An excerpt from the letter reads,

“As Aunt Marie’s closest living relatives, her eight great nephews and nieces – half of whom live locally, we strongly believe she would have been thrilled by the Master Plan. It saves the property as a garden into perpetuity, reflects Aunt Marie’s legacy of public access and education, and uses green technology to make the property energy-efficient and resilient to hurricanes and sea level rise.”

Many of the nieces and nephews have fond memories of spending time at Aunt Marie’s home here in Sarasota and the letter outlines their beliefs about what their Aunt Marie would have liked about the Master Plan.

On behalf of Marie Selby’s eight remaining relatives, Richard Haynes, will be available for interviews. Advance RSVP is required for the interview.
