For rising 1st-5th graders: Camp Lookout! is a full-day camp, designed for campers entering 1st-5th grades. With a different theme each week, mornings are packed with plenty of time in the great outdoors, wading in our waters, climbing the trees and catching bugs – the way a child’s summer should be! After lunch, Camp Lookout moves indoors, with afternoons dedicated to fun craft projects and artistic exploration of the weekly theme. Registration for Camp Lookout is limited to 30 campers each week. (Three 1-week sessions, June 10-28)

Camp GreenSTEM: June 3-7
In this week-long session, middle school campers will hone their systems-thinking skills to think about our urban lifestyles and invent new ways to create a sustainable and resilient city of the future! Campers this week will learn from Selby staff and other local scientists and environmental professionals, discover interesting career paths in STEM fields, and engage in meaningful and productive teamwork to define and do background research on the problems, develop ideas for solutions, create prototypes, and test their designs.
Camp Lookout Session 1: June 10-14
May the Forest be With You!
Short trees. Tall trees. We love all trees! Come and explore with us during this tree-mendous week, when campers will branch out and get to know the quiet giants of the forests of the world. Campers will develop their observation skills and learn how to study tree rings to tell a tree’s story, create bark and leaf rubbings, write poet-tree, design a treehouse village, and discover how humans, animals, and even other plants use trees. And of course, at the end of the week, each camper will leaf with their very own tree!
Camp Lookout Session 2: June 17-21
Voyage to the Pacific Islands to discover the people, plants, animals and habitats of Oceania. Make a volcano, build a boat, practice wayfinding and map-making, and learn how sound waves are like ocean waves. Campers this week will practice both art and science as they explore traditions such as fabric printing and music-making, and discover the plants used for food, medicine, and handicrafts, along with the animals that swim in the seas and soar through the skies.
Camp Lookout Session 3: June 24-28
The Life Aquatic
It’s o-fish-al! Our most popular session returns this year for the 5th consecutive summer! Shore enough, this week sees campers once again wading into Sarasota Bay ecology! Campers this week will explore the waters off Selby’s coastline to search for the fascinating creatures that live in the Bay, discover the adaptations that allow plants and animals to live in a watery world, and learn about how life on land affects life in the ocean. We’ll dip our toes -and paintbrushes- into artistic expression with watercolors (of course!), and create other fun ocean-themed projects like sea urchins and sparkly fish!
