Nibbles in Nature: Have a Brew-tea-ful Day!
Celebrate the seasons and foods from Florida at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens’ Historic Spanish Point campus! In this family-friendly program, children and their grown-ups will sample local foods and drinks as they discover the history, science and stories surrounding them. Geared for elementary school age children (ages 6-10).
September 28: Show Me the Honey! September is National Honey Month! BEE amazed by the secret lives inside the hives as we learn about honeybee home life, and the important work bees do to help us grow our favorite fruits and vegetables. We’ll meet a local beekeeper and try different kinds of honey, too!
January 4: Have a Brew-tea-ful Day! Did you know that people have been drinking tea for almost 5000 years? You can carry on tis tea tradition when you wear your fanciest garden party hat and join the par-tea to celebrate the New Year and National Hot Tea Month. Samples of different kinds of tea will be served. Tea party attire encouraged! Pinkies up!
March 8: A Berry Good Day How did the farmer fix his jeans? With strawberry patches! National Berries and Cherries Month is the perfect time to learn more about farming in Florida, where blueberries and strawberries are being harvested this month! Join us to taste-test some treats made with Florida-grown berries, and make a jar of your very own “Easy Freezy Strawberry Jam.”
May 24: The Salad Days: Happy National Salad Month! Summer weather is here, and it’s a great time to give the oven a break and dig into salads made of a delicious rainbow of veggies! Come on down and belly up to the salad bar, learn how to grow Zombie Veggies, and leave with the beginnings of your very own vegetable garden!
All sessions 12pm-1pm at Historic Spanish Point
Registration is limited to 30 people. Ticket prices include admission for the day to Marie Selby Botanical Gardens’ Historic Spanish Point Campus.
Children and Member Adults: $15.00
Non-Member Adults: $30.00
Adults must be accompanied by at least one child.
