Tickets are available onsite via contactless purchasing using credit or debit cards. Tickets may also be purchased online for the Historic Spanish Point campus.

Special Hours at Historic Spanish Point campus for indoor exhibit areas.

White Cottage, Mary’s Chapel, Window to the Past, and Packing House are open 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Guptill House is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. provided there is a volunteer docent available.

Outdoor areas open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Water fountains are closed. Guests are encouraged to bring their own water.

Boat tours on the Magic
Take a 45-minute boat tour on our historic vessel Magic.  Tours are available twice daily, Wednesday and Friday, from January through May.   Up to six guests per trip.  Additional fee applies. Learn more and reserve here.

 Dining at the Historic Spanish Point campus
Bayside Cottage Café (operated by Michael’s On East) offers a variety of sandwiches, beverages, and snacks that can be enjoyed with beautiful bayfront views. After Sunday, April 30, the café will be open from Wednesday – Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Outside food cannot be brought into the Historic Spanish Point campus.

Selby Gardens Members

Photo ID Required: Membership in the Gardens is non-transferable. Free admission is for member(s) named on the card(s). We keep our memberships affordable by preventing misuse of member cards, and we appreciate your assistance in showing your Photo ID.

Groups of 8 or More

Groups of 8 or more people receive a discounted admission rate of $23 (Downtown Sarasota campus) and $14 (Historic Spanish Point campus) per person. No additional discounts or coupons can be used in conjunction with the group rate. 

Members of the Selby Gardens will be admitted at no charge. Members’ guests will be admitted at a discounted rate. The number of guests a member may bring in varies depending on the level of their membership.

Local Reciprocal Visitors

Photo ID is required. Members of participating local attractions receive free or reduced admission to Selby Gardens during designated months. These benefits extend only to the member(s) named on the membership card(s). View a list of participating attractions.

American Horticultural Society

Photo ID is required. Members of the American Horticultural Society receive free or reduced admission. These benefits extend only to the member(s) named on the membership card(s). A family, couple, or household membership card that does not list the names will admit two of the members. View list of participating Gardens.

Note: Free or reduced admission does not apply to AHS members who live within 90 miles of either of our campuses, special events, group tours, exhibitions, or major fundraising events.

Visitor Guidelines and Policies

Guidelines

  • Preserve our plant collections, art installations, trees, and historic artifacts. Please refrain from picking flowers, leaves, labels, climbing trees or disturb our collections in any way.
  • Outside food and beverages are not permitted at either campus. We have on-site dining options that can be enjoyed indoors or outdoors.
  • Help support sustainability by using the trash and recycling receptacles found throughout the Gardens.
  • Visitors are welcome to take photos and videos for personal use. See Photography Policies for complete details.
  • For commercial and professional photography, please refer to our Photography Policies for details.
  • Service animals are welcome per the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); however, pets are not permitted at either campus.
  • Please help keep the Gardens relaxing for everyone—bicycles, scooters, skateboards, rollerblades, and loud music are not permitted.
    Smoking of any kind (including e-cigarettes and vaporizers) is not permitted.
  • Animals living at both campuses are wild—please do not feed or touch them.
  • Please do not wade, fish, or swim in any body of water on-site or adjacent to the Gardens.
  • Firearms are not permitted.

Inclement Weather Policy

There are no general admission refunds due to inclement weather. However, Selby Gardens reserves the right to close either campus for safety during extreme weather conditions. If this occurs, we will issue passes for a one-day admission to anyone already inside the Gardens. Individual ticketed events have their own rain policies and will be provided on event-specific pages.

 

 

Pets and Service Animals

Selby Gardens does not allow pets on either the Downtown Sarasota or Historic Spanish Point campuses; however, in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), service animals are permitted. As defined by the ADA, a service animal means any dog or miniature horse that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability. Taking Photos at Selby Gardens

Marie Selby Botanical Gardens (Selby Gardens) welcomes photographers to take photos and/or videos of the Gardens for personal use during normal business hours. For all other uses, please refer below.

Wedding Photography

The only wedding-related (bride, groom, family, wedding party, etc.) photography permitted at Selby Gardens is that which is in taken in conjunction with a wedding contracted through Selby Gardens and held on Selby Gardens' property.

Special Occasion Photography

Special Occasion Photography is considered any staged/group photo shot and may include, but is not limited to: family reunions, holidays, engagements, anniversaries, quinceañera, graduations, prom, pregnancy, blogs, birthdays, etc.

The number of Special Occasion Photography sessions (amateur or professional) permitted at either Selby Gardens' Downtown Sarasota or Historic Spanish Point campuses during normal operating hours (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.) is limited to a maximum of five per day. Advance reservations are recommended, but not required.  A $100 deposit is required.

Special Occasion Photography guests without an advance reservation may not be able to have a photography session if the maximum number of sessions has already been reached that day.

Special Occasion Photography Guidelines:
General admission is required for all members of the photo session
Standard membership privileges apply
Special Occasion Photography is NOT permitted in the Tropical Conservatory
All Special Occasion Photography sessions must be completed within a two-hour timeframe

Special Occasion Photography Fees:
– $100 (parties up to five – including the photographer and any assistants)
– $200 (parties of six to 10 – including the photographer and any assistants)
Parties exceeding 10 guests must follow Commercial Photography guidelines below

Commercial Photography

Advance reservations are required for all commercial photography sessions and arrangements must be made through Selby Gardens' External Relations Department at least three business days in advance.

Projects will be approved on a case-by-case basis
Non-refundable $250 deposit (put towards overall cost)
Changing rooms are not available

Still Photography*
Four (4) hours – half-day: $500
Eight (8) hours – full-day: $1,000

Videography*
Four (4) hours – half-day: $1,000
Eight (8) hours – full-day: $2,000

Television and Major Motion Pictures *
Eight (8) hours – full-day: $10,000
* $125 per hour, per person before or after office hours

All photography fees collected directly support the Selby Gardens' mission of bayfront sanctuaries connecting people with air plants of the world, native nature, and our regional history .

Student Photography and Filming

Individual student (high school, college, or university) photographers/videographers and non-profit organizations are subject to the same guidelines that apply to commercial projects. Students and organizations must contact the External Relations Department in advance for project authorization. Projects will be approved on a case-by-case basis. A reduced fee, in accordance with the scope of the project request, may be offered.

  • In general, students must fill out and send the application at least seven business days in advance of the shoot.
  • Students must submit scans of valid student ID and a letter of support from a teacher/professor regarding the project.
  • Large student projects may also be asked to provide a certificate of insurance from the school.
  • Dressing room facilities are not available.
  • Must follow all guidelines and restrictions for photography/videography.

Guidelines for all Special Occasion and Commercial Photography and Videography

Please note the following rules regarding wedding, special occasion and commercial photography, as well as videography and drone footage, at Selby Gardens.

Marie Selby Botanical Gardens reserves the right to approve final content for anything in which Selby Gardens, in name or visual form, will appear.

The photography session must not block visitor flow and enjoyment of the either campus.

All individuals and photographers must stay on general pathways and out of plants, flowers, and trees; and should refrain from placing equipment on plants, planting material or the like.

Rearrangement of plants or planted materials is prohibited.

Sitting, walking, standing or use of a structure for any use other than its intended purpose is prohibited.

Changing of clothing or photography/videography of bathing suits or lingerie is not permitted. Nudity, in any form, is strictly prohibited.

If an individual or photographer fails to comply with the outlined rules and policies, Selby Gardens reserves the right to deny permission for photography/videography, may stop a photography session at anytime during the photo shoot, and ask the individuals to the leave the premises without reimbursement of any pre-paid fees.

Media

All media sessions must be approved through the External Relations Department, including any content intended for print, radio, television, or film. Press requests will be handled separately from all other photography/videography requests.
