The High Life: Perspectives of an Artist and Curator

Join artist Kimberly Witham and curator Danaé Panchaud in a conversation exploring photography, nature, and visual storytelling, inspired by the exhibition, The High Life: Contemporary Photography and the Birds. The speakers will offer their unique perspectives on how photography invites us to reimagine nature – particularly birds – as artistic subjects, and how visual art can offer new ways of seeing and thinking about the environment around us.

Kimberly Witham is an American artist and educator who currently resides in Glen Gardner, NJ. Her lush and evocative photographs are strongly influenced by her studies in art history and her interest in the natural world.

Danaé Panchaud is a Swiss exhibition curator, museologist, and lecturer specializing in photography. She has been the director of the Centre de la photographie Genève since 2022. She is a co-curator of The High Life exhibition currently on view at Selby Gardens’ Downtown Sarasota campus.
