Marie Selby Botanical Gardens (Selby Gardens) received a Commendation in Horticulture from The Garden Club of America at their Zone VIII annual award ceremony, held virtually, on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. The award recognized Selby Gardens innovative and vital contributions to the collection, study and display of epiphytes (air plants).
“It is an honor to receive this commendation,” says Jennifer Rominiecki, president & CEO of Selby Gardens. “Our horticulture team strives for excellence every day and this award recognizes their dedication and passion in stewarding the best scientifically-documented collection of orchids and bromeliads in the world.”
The nomination for the award was submitted by the members of the Founders Garden Club of Sarasota, Inc. The purpose of The Garden Club of America is “to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening; to share the advantage of association by means of educational meetings, conferences, correspondence and publications; and to restore, improve and protect the quality of the environment through educational programs and action in the fields of conservation and civic improvement.”
