Introduction to Oil Painting en Plein Air

Oil paints can be a more complex yet stunning medium to work with when painting alla-prima (wetonwet techniques) in the open air! Artists’ oil colors are made by mixing dry pigments with linseed oil, meaning oil paints dry slowly. With oils you can enjoy the luxury of being able to tweak, soften, and blend your work, creating beautifully unique paintings. In this class you will learn about the essential painting tools, materials, and techniques for oil painting while you paint alongside the instructor during a step-by-step demonstration in the gardens. This class is suitable for beginners and anyone looking to further their skills in creating art with oils.
