DIY Slide Guitar with the Garbage-Men!

“We can’t go on and on creating more and more waste.”

George Harrison in the Daily Express, 7/29/89. Article written by Sue Johnson,

Local musical favorites The Garbage-Men are coming to Selby Gardens to share their upcycled musical instrument-building ingenuity with you!

Since 2010, The Garbage-Men have been sharing sustainability and creativity with our community by playing music on their unique DIY recycled instruments! Join them for a family-friendly workshop to create a single string slide guitar and learn the basics of how to play it so you can channel your inner George Harrison.

Stick around after class to enjoy a performance by the band on the stage on the Great lawn from 1pm-2pm!

  • General admission is included in the course fee. We encourage you to come early or stay and enjoy the Gardens after class.
  • All materials and supplies for this workshop are included in the tuition.
  • This class is suitable for children ~2nd grade and older. All registered children must be accompanied by a registered adult.
